Carroll University will add Women's Bowling as it's 23rd varsity sport.
Carroll University Athletics is expanding to 23 athletic programs with the addition of women's bowling. The Pioneer program will remain with the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin, as the conference recently announced the sponsorship of the new program.

"I'm proud that Carroll continues to add programs that align with the NCAA emerging sports program," said Director of Athletics Michael Schulist. "It's an honor to bee able to serve the prospective student-athletes' needs. I have no doubts we will be able to run a first-class program, and look forward to welcoming our first bowling class in 2021."

The program will begin competition in the year in 2021, while the position for Head Women's Bowling Coach is now open. Other CCIW member schools that have established women's bowling programs include Augustana, Carthage, Elmhurst, Illinois Wesleyan, and North Central. Aurora, Marian, and Lakeland will join the conference as associate members. The Pioneers will be using local bowling alley and sports bar Sunset Lanes in Waukesha as their home base for practices and competitions.

The Pioneers join the growing list of over 80 NCAA institutions that sponsor women's bowling. Women's bowling competes within only one division, titled National Collegiate Bowling.
